I always have mine set to back up to Dropbox, but I’ve never had any problems. I find Scrivener has its own systems that make it really hard to lose stuff. Even when I’ve used the iPad without syncing it keeps both files until I sort them out.

When it comes to submissions I compile as Word/PDF depending on the requirements. Scrivener is so flexible.

I find Scrivener excellent for organising as I can name scenes and chapters with placeholder names (eg: Tuesday morning, MC finds 1st body) and I can easily move everything around.

After years of PC laptops I moved to Mac some years back and I wouldn’t have it any other way. More up front for sure, but it lasts longer. Scrivener works on both but you have to buy specifically as the programs are different for PC and Mac and the licenses not transferable. I had to buy again for my Mac.

I don’t use anything else for writing these days, scrabbling around with an unwieldy Word doc is nothing but a memory. Sure, Scrivener takes some getting used to – but it’s worth it! I always recommend Scrivener boot camp on YouTube. It’s an older version now, but still really useful.

Happy writing!
